Some men ask themselves, "What would Carey Grant do?" I ask myself what William Powell would do.
William Powell was great in too many ways to describe.

My wife (who, it should be noted here, is the Queen of Her Species) humored me this Spring and bought me this soda syphon for our anniversary.
You could make the argument that making your own seltzer is better for the planet or that you can carbonate any beverage you wanted to. You could make the case that somehow the bubbles in fresh-made seltzer taste better.
Really, though, all you need to know is that William Powell used one of these babies and if the Universe were a fair and just place, he still would be somewhere, using one.
Which brings us to today's cocktail.
The Boston Cooler is made with lemon juice, sugar (I substituted simple syrup), seltzer (home-made), light rum and ginger ale (I substituted ginger beer) and garnished with a slice of lemon lounging insouciantly on top.

Tasting Notes:
This drink is astoundingly good. You'd think that the peppery ginger beer would overwhelm the fresh lemon, but - HA! - you'd be mistaken. This is lemony and refreshing and subtly-but-profoundly groovy.
I will make this again.
What's more - I would make this for William Powell.
And he would like it.
Overall Grade - A
